2022 Taipei Fun Summer!

A series of exciting special activities revolving around a four seasons theme is now under way in the Maokong area. This series of festivities is designed to promote tourism in the Maokong area and stimulate the development of related industries. Just as importantly, it provides people a rich variety of attractions for leisurely tourism and relaxation, giving visitors an opportunity to enjoy the distinctive beauty of the Maokong area’s scenery and culture.

This year’s #Taipei Xmas links together a chain of 15 major department stores and 5 key commercial districts. In addition to creating more than 60 decorative lighting installations around the city, this cooperative effort illuminates the Sky Bridge that links the buildings of the Xinyi Shopping District. Between November 18, 2022 and January 3, 2023, there will also be activities where proof of purchases above a designated amount can be exchanged for limited-quantity Christmas gifts! Continuing the “Taipei Christmas – Infinite Love” theme from the 2021 holiday season, in December of this year the Taipei City Government’s Department of Information and Tourism will present a series of Christmas-themed activities. Beginning on December 3, this year’s festivities will include photo check-in opportunities centered around resplendent decorative lighting installations, as well as drawings for valuable prizes for participants with accumulated reward points. As 2022 draws to a close, everybody is cordially invited to visit the Gongguan Commercial District to share in the heartwarming Christmas spirit.

For this year’s Christmas season, the Taipei Water Park presents a nighttime wonderland of decorative lights alongside a daytime idyll of flowers and plants——two perfect settings for relaxation as well as photography. Renowned orchestra groups have been invited to perform for the Christmas Concert on December 24, which will convey warm-hearted season’s greetings while enthralling visitors with the artistic charms of the Gongguan waterfront area.

Between December 3, 2022 and January 9, 2023, there will be 5 illuminated installations for photographic check-in fun outside Exit 6 at MRT Ximen Station in the Ximen Commercial District. Not only that, each weekend and official holiday there will be performances and activities, including “FUN Singing Concerts,” “IP Photography Meetups”, “Idol Meet-and-Greets,” and a “KPOP Original Dance Competition.” As well, more than 100 different shops in the area will offer special sales promotions and discounts. Taipei’s annual New Year’s spectacular has reached legendary status, becoming one of Asia’s must-visit bucket list experiences. This year, in conjunction with the “Twinkling Lights in Taipei” theme of the 2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival, decorative lighting installations will spring up all around Taipei City Hall. During the 2023 Taipei New Year’s Countdown Party, local and international artists as well as performing arts troupes will deliver a succession of performances. Join us for this yearly Taiwan tradition as we bravely jump into the New Year together!

To showcase Taipei’s unique Chinese New Year flavors, as well as to provide for local residents’ traditional New Year shopping needs, Dihua Street Commercial District are working in tandem to present “Taipei New Year Shopping Avenues.” These locations combine experiences centered on New Year arts and crafts, special sales and promotional activities, as well as live performances on outdoor stages. As well, the program will feature decorative lighting installations and brightening the area’s overall appearance for the New Year festivities.

In 2023 the Taiwan Lantern Festival is finally returning to Taipei, the city that gave birth to this beloved event twenty-three years ago. This year’s festival is devoted to showcasing what the last two decades have meant for the city where this event was born. This year’s festival is focused on 3 main elements: “Light,” “Origins,” and “Future.” These 3 elements will be given form as a trio of soaring pillars of light that embody Taipei’s role as Taiwan’s capital city.
